Mad Season is a grunge and alternative rock supergroup formed in 1994 in Seattle, Washington. It consists of musicians from several iconic grunge bands.

Mad Season was created at the initiative of Mike McCready, who wanted to start a side project apart from Pearl Jam to explore new sounds and escape the media pressure surrounding his main band. He recruited John Baker Saunders, a bassist he had met during rehab, along with Barrett Martin. Soon after, they invited Layne Staley, who was struggling with addiction at the time, to join the project.
