Fontaines D.C. is a post-punk band from Dublin, Ireland, formed in 2017. The band’s name is inspired by the character Johnny Fontane from The Godfather movie, combined with the initials “D.C.” for Dublin City.

Fontaines D.C. is known for its raw and energetic sound, influenced by classic post-punk bands like The Fall, Joy Division, and The Pogues, as well as Irish poets such as James Joyce and Patrick Kavanagh. Their music blends abrasive guitars, a hypnotic bass, and a powerful drum beat, accompanied by the deep and monotone voice of their lead singer, Grian Chatten, who delivers his lyrics in a strong Dublin accent.
