David Bowie: The Icon of Rock and Artistic Metamorphosis
David Bowie (born David Robert Jones on January 8, 1947, in London, died on January 10, 2016, in New York) was a British multidisciplinary artist—singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and actor. He is considered one of the most influential figures in music and popular culture of the 20th century.
Nicknamed the “chameleon of rock,” Bowie reinvented himself over the decades, both musically and visually. He explored numerous genres, from glam rock to funk, electronic music, and new wave. His character Ziggy Stardust, an androgynous extraterrestrial and eccentric rock star, left a lasting impression in the 1970s and propelled his career to international stardom.
